Morocco

The Divide

I went through cities and rural areas, seeing the inequality of the country, where there are still people who have difficulty finding work because of lack of school education, and communities without direct access to water.
The cities, with its monuments and kasbah, offer more job opportunities, especially in administrative centres such as the capital Rabat. There are still many areas where people have to make do, like the many medinas of many cities, where many people live in hardship. Many rural communities are isolated from urban centres and tourist routes, with problems of school education, work and sometimes water and electricity.
I have had the opportunity to investigate the inequalities in cities and rural centers, affluent and touristic areas and poor neighbourhoods, concluding that many people are still struggling in a country that is developing more and more, but where the most fragile are left behind.

I have worked on the story about Morocco on assignment for Oxfam International.
